Researchers studied nearly 30,000 female nurses under age 50 over 24 years to see if eating ultraprocessed foods (UPFs) increased their risk of developing polyps in the colon—growths that can turn into cancer.

Ultraprocessed foods are factory-made products with lots of additives, like packaged snacks, sweetened drinks, frozen dinners, and most foods that come in a box or wrapper
